I build Power BI reporting that stays right when the sources change: models, Power Query and SQL pipelines, and the checks that catch a number that has quietly stopped adding up. The work I take on: a reporting platform built from scattered exports, a slow model or refresh made fast, two systems that should agree but don't. Results
- 21 Power BI reports on one dimensional model — an operations reporting platform built from scratch at Swiss Re, refreshing itself from SharePoint; year-over-year comparisons for the first time.
- Market-unit completeness from 25% to 86% in six months — a data quality framework at Swiss Re that ranks gaps by owner.
- 16× faster reports — three months of energy data load in about 80 seconds instead of 21 min 40 s (Slovak Academy of Sciences).
- 0.64% of 50,231 paid orders never shipped — found by my open-source reconciliation tool on public data; one key fix (a size written 105 in one system, 10.5 in the other) took matching from 73% to 97%.
Experience
- Built the platform from scratch: a model with 8 fact tables, 21 reports, automatic refresh from SharePoint.
- Imports that survive a changed export: header detection and automatic field mapping in Power Query.
- Data quality framework: 18 fields across 464 events, scored per owner, placeholders counted as missing.
- Merged regional lists into one master list, matched recurring events across years, built request-ageing views.
- Matches orders to shipments and stock to stock across two systems and lists every mismatch.
- TimescaleDB, a Python watchdog on every data stream, anomaly detection with machine learning, and Power BI and web reporting from continuously updated summaries.
- Five energy reports, a sunlight-versus-output report and an overview on the hub's database, built to requirements agreed with the hub's staff.
- Moved the energy calculation into the database and optimised SQL (MariaDB); DAX measures for anomaly detection; validated the accuracy of the data flow against raw readings.
